Here at our practice, we use the Alma Soprano Laser, which is a gold standard 810nm diode laser that emits beams of light into your hair follicles. Your follicles absorb the energy, which destroys them, all without harming your surrounding skin.
Another great advantage of laser technology is that it can be used almost anywhere except near your eyes. No matter how sensitive your skin is, the laser beams target the hair follicles without causing any damage to surrounding tissue.
This means you can tackle the following areas:
This is a natural question to ask since we’re talking about “heating up and destroying” your hair follicles. The laser is equipped with a contact cooling technology that keeps the surface of your skin comfortable before, during, and after each pulse of light. You still may feel a pinching or stinging sensation, but most clients usually tolerate this very well and it’s only temporary. You also may have some redness in your skin, but this resolves itself quickly.
Many people believe you have to grow your hair out before having laser treatments. This is not the case. We do ask that you refrain from waxing, tweezing and threading or using any other method that removes the hair from the follicle. In order to have an effective treatment, the hair has to be in the follicle at the time of treatment.
This means you can still shave or trim hair while you wait for your appointment with us, or as needed in between treatments, since this only eliminates the hair along the skin/shaft without affecting the follicle.
The average person, whether it’s a man or woman, on face or body area, will most likely need 6–8 treatments to remove the unwanted hair. This is because hair grows in cycles, and only the follicles that are in an active growth stage at the time of the treatment are eliminated. When the next stage of hair becomes active, about 4-8 weeks later depending on the area being treated, you will come back to have those hairs treated while they are in the active growth stage. In some cases, less or more treatments may be needed, depending on your personal hair growth characteristics. Many factors such as hormones, PCOS (polycystic ovarian syndrome), age, ethnicity, weight, metabolism, and medication all influence the body's hair growth. So, because each person's skin and hair are different, results may differ from person to person.
In order for us to clearly see your hair follicles, avoid tweezing and waxing prior to your appointment. Hair can be shaved or trimmed as needed.
Dealing with Ingrown hairs can be a pain. They curl back nto th skin, causing an unattractive and painful bump. Ingrown hairs can happen to anyone and shaving, waxing or even wearing tight fitting clothing can increase your chances of getting ingrown hairs. Although they can occur anywhere on your body, they are most commonly found on legs, underarms, faces and bikini regions.
Sometimes ingrown hairs are accompanied with an infection in the follicle area and when this happens, the area becomes irritated and sore. The infection can also lead to itching, skin rashes, and puss collecting under the skin.
Those affected by ingrown hairs have tried just about everything from topical chemical exfoliators, steroids (cortisone), retinoids, antibiotics and high quality razors but these remedies can often cause severe skin irritation and may not fully resolve the problem.
There is one treatment that is highly effective in resolving the ingrown hair problem and that is laser hair removal. Laser hair removal goes to the root of the problem. After having a series of laser treatments, the hair follicles are destroyed and can no longer produce a hair, resolving the problem of ingown hairs.
Many factors such as hormones, PCOS (polycystic ovarian syndrome), age, ethnicity, weight, metabolism, and medication all influence the body's hair growth. So, because each person's skin and hair are different, hair growth patterns may differ from person to person.
You should have no downtime with Soprano laser hair removal, allowing you to return to work and your normal daily activities immediately. Your skin may have some redness, but for most people this resolves itself in a matter of minutes. Approximately 2-3 weeks after treatment, most clients will start to see a reduction in hairs, as the hair will shed and fall out after the treatment. In most cases, you will start to see a permanent reduction of hair growth after the first or second treatment, along with the hair becoming thinner. During your series of treatments, you can shave or trim your hair as needed.
